It's coming up on the 20th anniversary of my leaving home and going to The Kubert School for cartoonists over in New Jersey. I had worked solidly for The Herald for a year and half beforehand but in my head that's always been the point in my life when things got truly serious and my career began in earnest.
I've spent most of the last month with my head down working on a couple of new projects, both of them a little different from anything I've done before and in keeping with the reflective mood I find myself in.
I've been meeting with a lot of other cartoonists lately and will continue to do so in the weeks ahead. In September I'll be able to speak freely about what I've been doing and there will be a lot more before the end of the year.
For now suffice it to say that changes are coming and, hopefully, some new roles to be played.
