Cartoonists to Iran: #FreeAtena

Over 75 international cartoonists (including a pleasing number based in Scotland) and 40 non-governmental organisations are co-signatories on Cartoonists Rights Network International's letter to the President of Iran, Hammad Rouhani calling for the release of Atena Farghadani, the visual artist serving a lengthy jail sentence after posting a cartoon to Facebook.

The full text of the letter is on CRNI's website and you can find more about Atena's case and those of other cartoonists under threat too.

I'm a little over six months into my tenure as a CRNI board member and regional representative and really enjoying the role, especially the developing relationships with others in the organisation; some wonderful cartoonists and committed activists.

I have a couple of speaking engagements on behalf of CRNI in the north and south of the UK in the Spring, more details nearer the time.
