Taking a pencil for a walk...

From September last year through to February it was my very great pleasure to take some time off for travel through South East Asia and the Pacific. The itinerary: Japan; Thailand; Vietnam; Singapore; Indonesia; Hong Kong; New Zealand; Fiji; and Singapore once again. I was keen to reach out to cartoonists where I could find them in the countries included.

#FreeTurkeyMedia - UPDATED

May 2, 2017

In March my cartoon in solidarity with Musa Kart, held without trial in Turkey for over 150 days, appeared on the front page of Cumhuriyet newspaper. Throughout April cartoonists were encouraged to participate in the #FreeTurkeyMedia campaign. In May my article about Musa appeared on TIME's website.

Artistic Freedom Around the World: Challenges, Standards & Definitions

April 13, 2017

"Artistic expression is under threat worldwide. Authoritarian governments jail cartoonists for sedition, lock up poets and painters for blasphemy, prosecute rappers for insulting the state, and illegally censor filmmakers." As a Cartoonists Rights Network International director I'll attend an international meeting at the Artistic Freedom Center, LA in an effort to defend against these challenges.

Cartoonists in dire peril
